Tefzel™ ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene) resins are melt-processable copolymers renowned for excellent physical toughness and resistance to radiation, chemicals, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures. These high-performance resins can be customized for specific color, reinforcement, and conductivity requirements, making them suitable for various demanding applications.
Available as pellets or powder, Tefzel™ ETFE resins are used in:
Tefzel™ ETFE resins feature relatively low melting points and high melt flow rates, enabling easy processing through conventional extrusion techniques and various molding processes including injection, compression, transfer, rotational, and blow molding.
Tefzel™ ETFE HT-2188 is a special purpose fluoroplastic resin available in translucent, 2.5-mm (0.1-in) pellets. This grade offers higher flow rate, lower melting point, and superior flexural endurance compared to other Tefzel™ grades.
These melt-processible, modified copolymers of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene provide high-performance characteristics with faster processing rates than standard fluorocarbon resins. The combination of mechanical toughness and balanced properties makes HT-2188 ideal for demanding applications.
The high flow rate and low melt point make Tefzel™ ETFE HT-2188 particularly suitable for high-speed processing, including extruded coatings, films, and injection molding of slender, thin-walled, or intricate components. The low flexural modulus and high flexural endurance support use in various challenging applications.
Properly processed products made from neat Tefzel™ ETFE HT-2188 are inert to most solvents and chemicals, hydrolytically stable, and weather-resistant. The recommended upper service temperature is 150°C (302°F), with useful properties maintained at cryogenic ranges. Dielectric properties are excellent and stable, with a UL94 V-0 flame rating. Mechanical properties include outstanding impact strength, cut-through, and abrasion resistance.
